We worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team led by Peter Brett Associates to develop ideas for a new pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Thames in Reading. We systematically assessed alternative locations, alignments and bridge forms and then developed the justification of the selected alignment and bridge form to help secure Reading Council's successful bid for Department for Transport Local Sustainable Transport Funding. Our work formed the foundation for the appointment of Architects to develop a detailed bridge design. We then prepared the detailed Design and Access Statement in support of the successful planning application. The new Christchurch Bridge opened in 2017 and was a finalist in the 2016 Planning Achievement Awards.
